Ana Arends was born in Liverpool due to chance
rather than design, after her father was posted to Camel Lairds with
the Venezuelan Navy. Both her parents are from Venezuela, which is
where she lived until the tender age of 10.
After moving to the UK to study, she remained in the UK with her
mother, brother and sister. She went on to work for the multi-national
company Lever Brothers Ltd and gained a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry
and Masters Degree in Business Management. Ana then changed her career
path to become a Secondary School teacher after obtaining her PGCE in
Science.
It was during her time at Lever Brothers that her love for salsa
emerged and grew although, being always surrounded by Latin music, it
was in her blood.
During the past 11 years Ana has learnt a range of different salsa
styles whilst attending various events around the country, making
friends along the way. She is fully qualified to teach salsa
through the United Kingdom Alliance of Professional Teachers of
Dancing, and is an associate member of the UKA.
